Taurine | Glossary

Taurine is an amino acid-like compound involved in heart function, vision, and nervous system support. Cats require taurine directly from their diet, while dogs can produce some taurine internally under normal conditions. Animal-based proteins naturally contain taurine, particularly organ meats and seafood. 

In raw feeding, taurine-rich ingredients are valued because they provide this nutrient in a naturally occurring form. Taurine plays a role in maintaining normal cellular activity throughout the body.
