Observation behavior refers to the time pets spend quietly watching people, animals, or activity in their surroundings. Dogs may sit near a window observing neighborhood movement, while cats often spend long periods watching birds, insects, or passing wildlife.
Although these moments appear passive, they provide valuable mental stimulation by allowing pets to process changing sights, sounds, and movement. Observation is another example of how enrichment can occur naturally throughout the day without structured play.
